CROSS COUNTRY take 2
I decided to go back out to California for a few months and help out my friends Dan & Liliana with the Dance and Music School. They were set to have their first baby during the busiest time of the year.
There aren’t many pictures from this road trip because I do believe it rained across the entire country as I drove out. Being late winter I can describe the view from the road in two words … brown and grey.
I departed from my grandmothers house in Pennsylvania and drove up to Minnesota to visit Babe for a couple of days. From Minnesota I drove down to Nebraska to visit my brother Bobby for a couple of days that proved to be a mini adventure.
Upon arriving at Bobby’s there were Mojito’s [my favorite drink] waiting for me! My niece and nephew Tori and Aaron were also there, I hadn’t seen them in about 10years, Bobby and Theresa also had a few friends over who were super nice and fun. My 16 year old niece Tori showed me her shotgun, I don’t think I had ever actually seen a real gun before so for my niece to show me hers was slightly strange to me … strange’ first thought … show me how to shoot it’ second thought
Theresa’s parents owned a farm outside of Norfolk and Bobby offered to take me there the next day since he knows I love to photograph farms, and he would show me how to shoot a gun out there!
So we get to the farm, gun time! I love cows and when we get to the farm all the cows are in the front yard mowing the grass. I got to go in to see the baby pigs … the smell in there is something I may never forget. Notice in the picture below, my niece holding a pig with her freshly manicured nails! We went to the far side of the farm to shoot Tori’s shotgun and Bobby’s hand gun both of which nearly knocked me on my ass. I’m not sure which was better, shooting the gun or the nervous laugh I developed whiled holding the guns for the first time. I don’t think I ever want a gun, maybe a bb gun but besides that I’m good.
From Nebraska I drove to Grand Junction, CO where it was warm! Ahh, warmth and blue skies … after 6 months it was nice to feel warm weather. I stayed there a night and then drove the next to to my parents house in Mission Viejo.
