Redefine what a life well lived looks like.

An idea worth spreading. Help break the cycle, redefine your life and inspire those around you to do the same!

“The reality of the society that we’re in is there are thousands and thousands of people out there leading lives of quiet, screaming desperation, where they work long, hard hours at jobs they hate to enable them to buy things they don’t need to impress people they don’t like.”
-Nigel Marsh author of – Fat,Forty,Fired: One Man’s Frank,Funny, and Inspiring Account of Losing His Job and Finding His Life

In The Open: Young the Giant & Jon O' Brien

I was turned on to the amazing In The Open series by Jordan Lejuwaan of HighExistence.com. I love music, mountains and the outdoors which means I can only absolutely freakin’ LOVE In The Open!

ABOUT In The Open
We are people who love music to put it simply. Ranging from writers, designers, photographers, and cinematographers we all love music equally and want to spread as much music as possible in just about every format we possibly can.

Forewarning – Jon O’Brien “Family” definitely not the lightest of songs … but I listened to it 3 times in a row on two separate occasions and I’m about to press play again. I love it.

In The Open #2: Jon O’ Brien – Family from In the Open

Finally, music … it’s not about the big production anymore. It’s back to being about … the music.

Musicians go for a hike to a majestic place and play. <- I wish I got to say that more! Bravo Young the Giant!

I Love your Soul. Have a listen to the truly lovely Michael Bernard Fitzgerald

“I think to be human, Love is all we need!”

Green Couch Sessions • MICHAEL BERNARD FITZGERALD from Green Couch on Vimeo.

Equipped with his guitar and warm smile Michael Bernard Fitzgerald took the time to play us a song . He is currently driving his white van across the Country on tour for his album The MBF Love LP. He started in Victoria with a show at Lucky Bar and made his way across the straight to play in Vancouver at the Biltmore. We met up with Michael before the show to film a session and decided to set the couch inside the sculpture “We” by Jaume Plensa, perched at the edge of Sunset Beach. It was definitely a pleasure meeting Michael and think all of us at Green Couch can say the goosebumps weren’t just from the extremely cold february day. Don’t just take our word for it, stay tuned to hear this amazing session!

Check out more amazing videos from brilliant Canadian artist!

The Greencouch Sessions were partially inspired by the amazing Take Away Show series who made me fall madly in love with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. [side note, they are currently on the very unique outdoor Railroad Revival Tour with the truly phenomenal Mumford and Son's AND Old Crow Medicine show]

For me there’s something about fresh air and music that tends to equal magic! Coming across and being able to share such lovely videos, moments and sites like these is the number one reason I love the internet! For the most part about 95% of TV just numbs my brain and makes me lethargic. Online I find inspiration, motivation and share in moments of joy with strangers around the world. It’s beautiful.

Listening to: Amazing by One EskimO

One Eskimo from the UK has some beautiful songs and sweet animated videos to match the full electronic ambient sounds. I won’t go so far as to say the best music comes from the UK, but the majority of it does.

Listening to: Alligator (Toro Y Moi Remix) by Tegan and Sarah

i LOVE this track LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!

I wish Toro Y Moi would do more Tegan and Sarah remixes, it’s a BEAUTIFUL combination! It’s like a little music dream with perfect balance … by the way I LOVE IT!

check out more Tegan and Sarah here although it sounds nothing like the remix but their site is real simple and pretty.

Toro Y Moi on the other hand is solid interesting.  Check out his blog is here

I’d classify most of his stuff as dramatic ambient with Alligator being one of the faster tempos. I get a little impatient listening to it. It’s pretty but kind of like slow dub step … you just know that shit would be sooo sick speed up notch.

I dig on this video too but I think it’s more for the color grading and nostalgia then music purposes. 4th of July in Charlotte a few years back I was highly entertained shooting some bottle rockets into the lake :)
