Listening to: Feeling Good by Michael Buble

This may have to be my new alarm clock song. I can totally picture myself getting out of bed dancing to it and twirling right to the espresso machine! A little stretched step kick and jazzy snap action through the living room ;)

Good God I Love me some Blues.

good god good blues … they melt me. It’s all over when good blues are on, I can’t function it crawls under my skin and washes through my veins. My body feels like it no longer belongs to me, I become a puppet to the strings on the guitar. Shit gives me goose bumps, heats up my skin and takes my breathe away. Good blues is like good sex, that feeling … it stays with you … gives you that glow and that smile. You know that smile.

Listening to Tab Benoit makes me feel like I didn’t move far enough south. I don’t want swamp and gators but I feel it pullin me. Those sounds and soul that come from the south, they’re the sounds worth livin for.

Tab’s gonna be at Voodoo Experience down in New Orleans Oct. 29 – 31 Raphael Saadiq is gonna be there too. Oh GOD I wanna go down. I know Moog Fest is the same time here in Asheville so it kinda makes me feel bad … but the bayou’s callin my name.

Listening to: Out Loud by Dispatch

I posted this a while back on the short blog but it’s worth another post cause I love it!
official Dispatch site

“Out Loud”

Would you be the wind to blow me home
Would you be a dream
On the wings of a poem
And if we were walking through a crowd
Well you know I’d be proud

[Chorus:]
If you call my name out loud
Do you suppose that I would come running
Do you suppose I’d come at all
I suppose I would

And if we were walking
Down a dead end street
Would you be the one to let our eyes meet
Or would you just keep on walking
Down to the turn around
’cause you know I’d be proud

[Chorus]

And if I was gone from the land we know
Would be the dawn
And let your beauty still show
And if you were walking
And heard the cold night coming
Would you call my name
’cause you know I’d come running

Rare video recording of Jeff Tweedy (solo) - You Are Not Alone

I caught Jeff Tweedy on Farm Aid’s 2010 live streaming performance on YouTube unfortunately of the videos uploaded Jeff’s performance is not among them. Hopefully that will change because it was captivating. I put the concert on as background music and then ended up dropping everything and fully entranced within moments of Tweedy starting to play.

This song in particular struck a nerve with me. Leading me on quite the hunt to find any recording of him singing it solo online. This is actually the only one I could find and although it’s shaky the sound quality is good enough to get the feeling. It’s sad this solo isn’t available, I’ve listened to the recording of it with Mavis and also with Tweedy & Feist overseen by Beck but neither feel as good.

A few lines hit a real sensitive nerve which upon hearing certainly make me feel not so alone:

“…. Broken dream, broken heart, isolated and afraid ……. Open hand, open heart there’s no need to be afraid”

An “Open Heart” is such a beautiful way to combine an open wound and a broken heart.

Along with not being able to find many solo videos I can’t find a solo site for him to send you to either. If you haven’t heard of him before, he’s currently the lead for Wilco and use to be in Uncle Tupelo. So, when all else fails … here’s his Wikipedia link if you want to know more about him.

…..UPDATE 5 of his songs have been uploaded to the Farm Aid channel, however You Are Not Alone is still not among them.  Of the ones uploaded Sunken Treasures is moving.
